The dealer was contacted and they advised him that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 08V157000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they advised him that he needed to have the nipple on top of the tank replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000. The VIN was unavailable.

Check engine lights for evaporative system leak. First small leak codes every week or so, then "gross leak" code. Informed by dealer that there is a leak on the top of the plastic gas tank and there has been some spillage. Risk of fire. Dealer informs $2800 to replace gas tank.

My vehicle qualifies for a few recalls but is not listed as one of the recalled cars. I suffer some the exact issues the factory recalled but my car is not a recalled car. Its really inconvenient to drive around with these issues because I am worried I could get stranded somewhere.
