Brand new 2021 Audi Q5 completely shut down unexpectedly!!! My daughter was driving her brand new car when the electrical system began alerting her to pull over, windows went up and down, steering froze, brakes jammed and thank goodness she was on a residential street and was able to pull over immediately. The car died!! We called a tow service and had the car towed to the dealership where we purchased it 2 weeks prior.

A few of the techs tried to jump the battery with no luck until another service tech came out and told them to check the other battery in the back seat under the cup holder. We noticed a cup of coffee in the rear seat cup holder had spilled but didn't give it much thought at the time. Turns out there was another car at the service area with the same issue which sounded so strange to me. I got home and googled this and numerous sites speak of the Audi shutting down when the back battery gets wet. The coffee obviously spilled and got the part wet.

We called our dealership and they told us to contact corporate Audi. We are in the process of trying to get a refund but we really love this car. We just want Audi to recall and fix this issue permanently but there doesn't seem to be a sense of urgency from the dealership or corporate. This is a SERIOUS problem and Audi needs to recall these models. There are complaints on this site as well as Edmunds. According to other complaints the part is the J533 located underneath the back seat under the cup holder. There needs to be a recall to fix this problem. Other complaints said this isn't under warranty?? I can't imagine?
