I traded in my Q5 for this Q7 in September 2019, that I fell in love with and test drove one day. My note went up significantly, but I begged my fiancée and he got it for me and the thing has squeaked in reverse since I got it. First time I brought it in they kept it for a week and supposedly changed the rotors and pads. They said they covered it under the warranty but the guy that schedules repairs told me He had to get with the head guy to make sure but that was why it took so long. Yea.... okay, so I had also pulled out the car fax that they printed when we bought it and the owner that traded it in had the brakes changed 2 months prior to trading it in. So a couple of days after they changed the pads and rotors it was back to the high pitched squealing brakes every time I go in reverse.

So then covid happens and I couldn’t really deal with it because of lockdowns, but I was staying home so I wasn’t driving it. Then restrictions let up and we were going on vacation the last week of may so I scheduled an appointment to top off oil and check tires etc., for travel and I also added that the breaks were STILL squeaking. At that time, I hadn’t realized that it was only in reverse so when they had me drive with the mechanic we only went forwards so he never heard them that day but they told me when I picked it up to go to Florida that they were just really greasy and they “cleaned them up real good”. When I got to Florida the next day, I unpacked and went to move my car and they screeched as soon as I went in reverse. When I got back from vacation a week later, the oil light was coming on so I took it in for that and told them it needs new brakes cause it’s STILL SQUEAKING...

This time they called to say it was ready and left a very lengthy message about how it’s the break pads being to greased up and they couldn’t do anything, but that Audi was planning to redesign them in 2021 so basically, ride it out. I am beyond frustrated with this overpriced squeaky car! I’m losing my patience and that isn’t gonna be good news for their sales when I go over there and just keep driving in reverse and forwards repeatedly in their pickup and drop off area everyday until they give me a car that DOESN'T squeak!! I don’t understand how this is legal.

In 2019, I traded in my Audi Q5 for a Q7. This vehicle has a high pitched, obnoxiously loud, squealing sound coming from the brakes. In the last few months I have finally found that it is consistent with going in reverse. I brought it in a month after I leased it and the kept it for a week and ended up just changing the pads. It never stopped squeaking so i brought it in again a few months later. Corona virus had us locked down so I wasn’t driving it at all and when we could finally get out of the house again, my oil light had come on (ended up not even needing oil, but the light was on) so I made an appointment and I also put in the notes that the brakes were still squeaking to please check them out. They called the same day and said it was ready and that the pads were just super lubricated or greased and they told me they cleaned them up real good.

The next day they were squeaking again.

I then scheduled ANOTHER appointment and when they called to tell me it was ready, they left a voicemail finally telling me that they were in the process of “redesigning” the brake pads, but wouldn’t be ready till sometime in 2021. They said they had cleaned them up again, but there wasn’t anything else they could do but they would let me know when they have the redesigned pads.

No, this has not caused a wreck or a fire, but it’s really BAD business to sell a car that you know has a possible defect and even filings from people trying to start a class action lawsuit about it. That tells me right there that they just wanted the sale and they really don’t care. Everyday I video it when I drive my car and it’s getting louder and a few times I have heard it when I’m not just in reverse. I also checked the car fax report on this specific vehicle and it noted that the previous owner had changed the brakes 2 weeks prior of the sell date.

I have a 2017 Q7 Prestige that I bought around 10/2016. And yes within the first month the squeaks started on reverse only pulling out of the garage for the first 20-30 feet mornings only. Complained to The Audi dealership in Wellesley Mass and was told it is "normal" and learn to live with it. Lived with it all this time. Should have invoked the Mass lemon law on multiple complaints the first year and got my money back. Now about a month ago squeaks started on both front and back breaking, louder, continuous, ear piercing and embarrassing attention grabbing, without a brake light appearing. Mileage is around 39k. There is definitely something wrong that VW-Audi does not want to admit nor take care of. Glad there is a Class action lawsuit and would like to join them.

2018 Q7 has high pitched brake squeal while backing & gradual braking. Audi USA and the dealership claim this is "normal". When I said; "To who?" they replied Audi is working on a fix but no time table is available. OK, so it's not normal then. Audi insults my intelligence by saying this is normal. HP brakes do make some noise, but constant squealing is not normal on a street car. The dealer said no inspection is necessary, that they already know about the problem. I insisted that they inspect the brakes, if not for safety alone. I asked the service writer if this has been an ongoing issue with this model, why were we not told that from the salesman when we were inquiring about the car. She said: "They can't if you know what I mean". After visiting the dealer I contacted Audi USA and opened a case for my complaint. I told them that I appreciated the fact that Audi was working on a solution, but I am not going to wait an indefinite amount of time for a fix. Additionally, I have no intention of purchasing another Audi because of their dishonest sales approach. I said I want to turn the car back in. Audi USA instructed me to go see the GM at the dealership where I bought it. That is my next step toward resolution to my problem. I intentionally omitted the dealership name until I give them the chance to make this right. So at this point, I only know two things; 1) I will be successful turning the car back to Audi 2) I will never again purchase an Audi product. Thanks for reading.
