Engine kept stalling and car stuttering after I cold start the car and put it in gear. Always took at least two start-ups before the engine revolutions evened out and one could take off. Mechanics could not find the fault, but they believed transmission oil had to be changed and could resolve the issue. Oil change + troubleshooting came in around $900.
Update from Feb 16, 2026: Turns out I had a faulty MAF-sensor, so the car needed to run for a while to stabilise fuel to air mixture. Also BMW has a standard cold start procedure where the revs are increased for a while to heat up the catalyst.
