328 Sedan 3,2

  • Automatic transmission

Only in cold weather does this occur. If the car starts the dash lights will light up in different configurations telling you it needs servicing. The tach and speedo gauges will swing back and forth as the bi-stable relay behind the glove box switches. Codes include 2A38, 2A45, 2A77, 2A3F. All are a result of a bad eccentric shaft that binds when cold and won't rotate causing over current of the valvetronic motor and the resulting codes. The fix includes taking off the heads in order to repair. If you don.t do it yourself then the fix is not worth the price of the car. This vehicle is mechanic owned and maintained meticulously and I am very disappointed in the German quality due to this.
