While parking my car on a gravel top parking lot, I slowed down to less than 5 miles per hours, I feel some sort of slip in the car and all of a sudden the car accelerated by itself and crashed into a concrete block wall. The airbag was deployed. I had no chance to stop it because I was parking and had less than 8 feet in front of my car to react.
My car was totalled out by GEICO. BMW was notified and they claimed they could not test drive it but concluded that there was nothing wrong with the car or its systems. Now I am out of a car, my insurance rate is affected, out of deductible and worst of all, my daughter now seems petrified when I go more than 40 miles per hour.
The airbag that was deployed was recalled Takagi and thank God I was not killed by it. When asked about it to BMW they were in the process of sending notification which I never received. I am not buying BMW ever again.

How is that car totaled? Also who do you expect to believe the car accelerated without you pushing the gas? Its ok, mistakes happen but that car isn't totaled.
I received above message from this guy name Josh O.: All I can say is I did not render my car a total loss. The insurance company did. And other than adding a constructive message, I get this finger pointing that the poster of this information must have done something wrong. Well, I am a 52 year old with no accident record until now. Under the scenario of parking this car at less than 5 miles per hour on a gravel top, your foot is not on the gas but on the brake. The car did accelerate fast enough for the air bag to deploy and render this car a total loss. When I saw this email, I must have to say BMW as well as other car manufacturers must employ people like Josh to disqualify people like me. Well, I and five members of my immediate families drive BMWs. I put this out there because I believe there is something wrong with the car and did not like BMW's response that since they could not test totalled car for cause of accident, they bare no responsibility. I posted this information, I do so to help others. After my incident, I myself will not buy BMW, nor would my family members go and buy BMWs. I could have been driving on Highway One off the coast of California when this could have happened. I will not make that mistake of buying cars from a company where they do not care to really find out what is causing these type of accidents. I am not alone. There are numerous accidents with exact same scenario and circumstances as my accident. I am what car manufacturers may call, acceptable loss and not fix these issues. Well, their loss is me as their customer.
