Excessive time from notification to resolution, currently 7 months with no resolution. NHTSA recall number: Opens new window takes away from VIN lookup section> 16V071 recall date: February 5, 2016 manufacturer recall number: Na summary: Driver's front air bag: During air bag deployment in an accident, the driver's front air bag module may produce excessive internal pressure that could cause the inflator to rupture. Safety risk: Inflator rupture could result in metal fragments striking the driver or other passengers, potentially resulting in serious injury or death. Remedy: Your BMW center will replace the driver's front air bag module. However, due to the large volume of new inflators needed to repair vehicles, the necessary parts will not be immediately available. As a result, owners of affected vehicles will be informed of the recall in an initial notification letter. Once replacement parts become available BMW will send another notification letter to owners, beginning with older model year vehicles located in BMW's previously defined hah (high absolute humidity) region and expanding accordingly as more parts become available. Recall status: Recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available

Takata recall BMW has yet to remedy the defect within a reasonable period of time. I received the recall letter in March 2016 and have not heard from them since on the status of the recall. I I also have contacted the local BMW dealership and have not heard back from them regarding my concern for the recall. I do not have another vehicle to drive and am increasing the risk on my life every time I am on the road.

"takata recall" I have tied to get a on a waiting list for the recalled air bags but I have not heard anything back from our dealer. My wife's car is a 2008 BMW and we live in very humid central Florida. We have a 17 month old son which only increases my concern. What options do we have to find out a priority order for her?

Takata recall I received a recall notice in March for my 2008 BMW 3 series convertible, [xxx] stating that the driver's front air bag module needs to be replaced and that I would be notified when parts become available. I have recently purchased another car (not a BMW) but the trade in on the BMW is blocked by the pending recall repair. My local dealer, weatherford in berkeley, ca informs me that they still do not have the parts and have no information on when they may become available. There is obviously a safety issue for me and for an eventual buyer of the car. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The car's airbag failure warning light, and seat belt warning light started going off whenever someone sits in the passenger seat, indicating that there is no airbag/passenger seat belt function in the car. Dealer has diagnosed the problem as a failed passenger seat sensor mat and indicates that this is a common problem. Cars up until the 2007 model year have been recalled to fix the problem, but BMW has yet to extend the recall to the 2008 model year. BMW still has not issued a recall, and I would like NHTSA to perform an investigation as this looks like the same problem as NHTSA campaign 13V-564. The lights come on whether stationary or in motion, whether a passenger is in the seat or the seat is empty.

Seat belt and air bag warning lights go on when there's no one sitting in the passenger seat. Was told this is likely a seat sensor issue. I have the sport package and have read that many people have the seat sensor issue with sport seats. Also there has been a recall for almost every year model for the BMW 3-series up to 2007 for seat sensor recall. The light is on constantly now when the car is turned on, whether it is driving or stationary. The lights used to go intermittently on or off but now they are staying on. This makes questionable whether the seat belts are working or if the air bags will deploy.

Takata recall?- my car is not on recall but airbag light displayed at 83,012 miles. They installed new seat belt receptacle at a cost of $362.42. Airbag light came on again in 2 months- took it back. Was told they needed to check wiring or module. Cost for wiring $625 cost for module $1,315. Did not get it fixed. Seems to me airbag problems should not occur in cars. With all the airbag recalls, I was hoping mine would be recalled but no!
