This after the check engine light came on 4 December, 2019, steady on, at 77,000 miles; the computer showed all systems OK. The BMW dealership diagnosed a stretched timing chain and a faulty pre O2 sensor. Repair completed for nearly $3,700. This afternoon the check engine light came on and stays on steady. I checked the gas cap, it was closed tight.
I have contacted BMW last December in writing, since they had sent an extended warranty letter to 7 years/70,000 miles. I was hoping for some courtesy assistance given how widespread this issue seems to be. I never got an answer. I had also sent a letter to the FL address for claims in this matter, same result, no reply.
I plan on taking the car to my local dealership next week. If it’s something major, this is the last BMW I EVER OWNED. How disappointing from the “ultimate driving machineâ€!
