While driving my 328 XDrive, I went to make a left turn and hear a loud bang like I ran over a boulder or large object. Lost almost all power to the wheels and had to cost the car into a gas station. After which I had the car towed to BMW and was determined to be a failed transfer case at 123k on the OD. This seems to be happening to the older BMWs with the old transfer case. BMW knows this as they have since upgraded the transfer case and no longer sell the old one. This should without question be a recall for any 328d XDrive from this era.

The contact owns a 2014 BMW 328D. The contact stated that there was oil leaking near the front driver's side tire. While driving at various speeds there was a cloud of smoke and burning odor coming from the area of the leaking. The smoke dissipated while the vehicle was idling. The vehicle was jerking from the front driver-??s side wheel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the CV Joint needed to be replaced. The brakes had been replaced; however, the CV Joint had not been replaced. The mechanic informed the contact that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V185000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and it was confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 133,000.

In regards safety recall 21V-907, the BMW dealer does not have a remedy yet; however in October 2021 they stated that the intake manifold needed replacement due to heavy buildup and it was replaced. The recall issued in November 2021 states that the leakage from the faulty EGR valve could contaminate the intake manifold and the replacement should be done free of charge. They charged me $1,281 + labor in their invoice # 6436354/1 from 10-29-2021 and they refuse to reimburse me, alleging that there is no remedy available and referred me to bmwusa.com/recalls. BMW corporate states that the dealer should reimburse me for a "treated act reimbursement". At his point I'm not sure if it is safe to use my car.

2014 BMW 328i Xdrive, 62K miles. Routine oil change and filter change serviced at BMW dealership Feb 2022. March 2022 (<30 days later), suffered catastrophic engine failure related to camshaft oil starvation and sudden loss of power while driving on highway at 60 mph. Dealership investigation unable to determine the cause, ruled out N20 timing chain and oil pump chain issues. Neither BMW NA nor dealership would stand behind engine failure - BMW NA stated the "car is too old." Full engine replacement completed at the expense of the customer ($11K). Very disappointing that an engine would suffer catastrophic failure related to oil starvation within one month of dealership oil service with multi-point inspection. BMW F30 N20 engines have numerous reports of failures.

Driving straight on flamingo road at 45 mph in sunrise fl and experienced major power loss in driving power with no transmission control. Pulled on the side and able to drive very slowly 10 mph. Had to be towed to dealer. Transfer case and transmission were replaced. Such component failures should not have occurred. Vehicle has only 58,000 miles. I was given a reason of premature component failure/manufacturing defect from the dealer. After the repair, a major improvement occurred on the efficiency indicators that proves to the fact that I had this problem since the I purchased the vehicle new and it had deteriorating conditions. There may impact on other vehicles in the same category that could point to a recall. Major costs incurred from towing and repairs that were out the warranty that expired in Dec 2014.dealer declined to absorb such costs. A complaint was also was submitted to the manufacturer Corp office.

I lost drive fuctions while driving my 2014 BMW 328D xdrive. I was making a left hand turn when I heard a loud noise as if I hit something. My display showed drivetrain malfunction and put itself into neutral. I narrowly missed getting T-boned by on-coming traffic. I managed to let it roll to the side of the road imediately after the turn. I could not move the car and had to have it towed to a shop. The main cause was the transfer case. The rear drive line lost it fuction turning the car from AWD to fwd and would not move. This is a major concern and issue that BMW must address. I narrowly escaped serious injury or death. If the oncoming cars did not slow down or if I took the turn 1 second later I would have been hit on the passenger side

We were driving our BMW 328D xdrive wagon and accelerating straight to enter the interstate when there was loss of all drive power and the engine began to rev high. No error messages activated. We were fortunate to be able to drift out off traffic as no other cars were coming close. Vehicle was towed to dealership and determined to be defective transfer case.

Going about 60mph, my car completely loses power and shuts down. Power train malfunction loss of power flash on the screen. Ive had the car for 20 days, and at 52000 miles. 2000 over my warranty. BMW is auotibg ne $5,000 to fix the high pressure fuel pump and system, fuel rail sensor, and fuel rail pressure valve which all ultimately work together. But BMW has already recalled all other 2014 328 models for the exact same fuel pump problems im having except the 328D model was the only one left out"???! BMW makes very few of these models to begin with, so naturally there arent going to ve as many complaints with the 328D if there are fewer produced. Its common sense. Looking through the complaints on safecar.gov 98% of the complaints on the car ultimately come to some sort of fuel system failure causing loss of power and total shut down. At 60 mph and 2 babies in my back seat it was more than scary. Im disgusted with BMW leaving out and not recalling the 328D when they did all the others. I mean what does it take to get some answers around here on this when there are multiple upon multiple complaints?? I mean I got on my phone immediately and diagnosed the problem before sos even came on my speakers just off of the terrible reviews and complaints people are saying off the internet alone! the BMW service center also told me all of that exact year and model that they have had in there lately have been due to the same issue!! this is a cost I cannot even afford at the moment, especially for a vehicle 2000 miles out of warranty. And is basically a brand new car and to already be faulty?? I'm afraid to even drive it again once it does get fixed, being that they are replacing the parts that just failed!! with the exact same parts?!!! what to just fail again, and take the chance of next time on a busy road when it shuts down, actually having a collison with a vehicle instead"!

The contact owns a 2014 BMW 328I. The contact stated that while the vehicle gear shifter was placed in the park position, it slipped out of the park position into neutral independently and rolled down a hill and pinned the contact between the vehicle and the bumper of an industrial box truck. The air bags had not deployed. A police report was filed and unknown injuries were sustained that required medical attention. The vehicle was driven to the dealer but the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. The VIN was not available.

Vehicle has on 4 separate occurrences stalled/failed to accelerate. "drivetrain malfunction" error code is displayed. The vehicle had 11564 miles on the odometer at the first occurrence. The faults were cleared, but because they could not replicate the failure, no action was taken. The second occurrence, 6 months and 9000 miles later, a sensor was replaced, faults cleared, no further action taken. The third time, six weeks later, a fuel quantity control valve was replaced. The car has just been towed for a fourth time. On 3 of the 4 occurrences, the car was on a highway or busy street, at one time traveling in excess of 60 mph. The last time was turning onto a busy highway, narrowly avoiding an accident. The first time was on a downtown city block, stalling in an intersection at low speed.

Driving down the freeway and all of the sudden engine gives out and car goes into "limp mode" cruise control was set at 76 mph and suddenly it goes to 60 mph, I almost got rear ended by another vehicle as I had no control over the vehicle power. Vehicle continues to drive but does not go over 60 mph, shudders and shakes the acceleration is very mild to put it lightly. Poses a major safety risk. This is 3rd that that it has happened to this vehicle. This is well documented under BMW 328I (2012 - onwards) forums F30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?T=776020 dealer refuses to do anything.

On interstate 10, during the acceleration, the engine completely lost its power. I had to immediately pull over before I lost the momentum.the ca highway patrol pushed me to a safe place. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the dealer replaced the entire fuel tank. The second incident was almost 20 days after again during the acceleration on freeway at the speed of 70, the engine lost its power in a way that the car did not proceed for a while. The dealer advised that it was nothing wrong with engine because they could not read any error in the system and II had to wait till I receive an error on the lcd. I notified them that it is a serious problem specifically on the freeway because loss of power can cause an accident, but to no avail.

I was merging onto the interstate and got into the passing lane. I then shifted from 3rd gear to 4th and the car started to shake and lose power (limp home mode). The display said drivetrain malfunction, drive moderately, etc. And the check engine lamp came on. I shifted to 5th gear to see if it would help and had the same low power issue. I then changed two lanes to get onto the shoulder. I turned the car off and waited briefly and restarted the car. The lamps were off and there was no issue. I phoned the dealership and they stated they get this type of call often and it is a 'normal glitch.' I should drive it and see if it happens again as it usually doesn't or I could bring the car in.
