We purchased this 2016 BMW 328i in 2019 with 59,063 miles. The car drove fine until 5/4/2021, when the car started smoking. The car was repaired on 5/5/2021 (currently with 76503 miles), oil filter replaced, new oil gaskets and o -rings and serpentine belt replaced. On 5/7/2021 while driving the engine locked, car was towed back to the previous repair shop. After diagnostics car was then towed to BMW dealership to determine if car was included in a current class action suit. It was determined the car was not eligible for this suit, but that the car needed a new engine. This is unacceptable and below industry norms. The response from BMW service department “this happens”, well that is not good enough. The car is less than 5 years old. The car was purchased used from a United BMW in Alpharetta Georgia and we are the second owners.

Update from May 11, 2021: Additional note the car never displayed an engine warning light, nor any other warning alerts.
