My vehicle has 64,000 miles and I was exiting the driveway and accelerating up to 45mph when all the sudden I encountered a complete loss of power with sounded like a bang in the engine. My car immediately slowed down to under 30mph and started shaking. Luckily I was only 2 minutes from my house. I believe this part should be recalled because looking at all the complaints with other owners they have the same problem this is a plastic piece that under where in tear and pressure which is designed for it is failing. Some of the stories I've heard are pretty scary also like people being on the highway in this happening.

10/15/2015 car serviced for recall - fuel pump issue 10/23/2015 - while driving on highway at approximately 70mph car engine suddenly stopped. I pushed down my clutch (manual transmission) and was able to roll onto the left shoulder. Had to be towed to nearest BMW dealer. Car "repaired" and I picked it up one week later. 11/4/2015 while driving on highway at about 55 mph car engine again suddenly stopped and I coasted onto right shoulder. I was able to restart car about 15 minutes later. Brought car to my local dealer for repair. Dealer advised problem was discovered with fuel system and repaired. 12/16/2015 while driving in very heavy traffic car overheated and I had to pull off highway. Message on my screen advised to call roadside assistance. I ignorded that and waited for engine to cool and traffic to flow. I then restarted car and made it back home. Car went in for repair next day. Dealer advised problem was solved.

There is a major design flaw on the BMW 435I 2014 to people who live where there is rain. I was pulling into the parking lot of my company and there was a puddle from the ran maybe 5-6" (not enough to penetrate the doors and wet the inside). I drove through the puddle and the engine hydrolocked causing the engine to have to be replaced. I was told by the service department that the car is low to the ground and that the air intake is on the front grill at the bottom. With this car being low, how can anyone drive in rain in an area where water accumulates? I was never warned or informed of this situation. I have worked at my company for 16 years and have had over 6 cars and have never had to worry about any puddle at the driveway of my business. This is absolutely ridiculous.

On 7/9/14, I backed our new 435I up to our garage (outside for the night). The garage door was open, and the warning system let me know that I was close to our lawnmower. Once I was close enough, I put the car in drive to straighten out the car, and immediately the vehicle attempted to accelerate to full speed. I was already on the foot break, but the car would not respond. Our driveway is concrete and quite slick. The rear tire spun uncontrollably, created a cloud of smoke, and left a pile of tire debris behind the vehicle. I hit the kill switch and refused to drive the car further. It is now 8/9/14 and we still don't have a resolution. We wrote a large check as a down payment for the car and are making payments on a vehicle we do not possess. I was told the vehicle would be inspected by an engineer, and that the report would take two days to complete. After that, the engineering team has 10 days to review the results. Subsequently, BMW (corporate in NJ) has asked for an additional two weeks for evaluation. I asked for any results, but was told no information was available.
