On several occasions we tried depressing the brake pedal, turning off the cruise control switch, and finally even turning off the ignition for several seconds. The cruise control maintained the preset speed of 70 mph. Brake pedal pressure and brake effectiveness allowed the car to be slowed and stopped. No other symptoms or instances have occurred.
