The contact owns a 2008 BMW 528I. While attempting to utilize the seat heating system, the contact smelled an abnormal burning odor. Upon further inspection, it was noted that the backrest of the driver side seat had a small burn hole. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 04V575000 (seats). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 59,000.....updated 01/13/16; updated 05/10/18
