I owned a 2015 BMW 528i x-drive and at 112k miles it had a catastrophic engine failure due to a bearing disintegrating and destroying the engine completely. Once the bearing failed, metal debris circulated throughout the engine by way of contaminated engine oil causing engine failure. The vehicle was rendered useless and had to be junked. I am still paying for this vehicle in 2026. The online complaint form would not accept the repair cost because it said it was extraordinarily high, but the repair invoice for this repair was actually $25,522, yes more than what the vehicle was worth, so it was not affordable.
