This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your BMW dealer.
Brand new 2011 vehicle took delivery November 22nd, 2011 and tried to enter a known address in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. No such address on map, yet our portable garmin has shown that address for 4 years. Also all the exit numbers on Hwy 79 entering Pittsburgh are incorrect. These were changed 3 years ago and not on BMW's maps. It is ludicrous that a brand new vehicle has such out of date maps and we have been told we have to pay $400 to have them updated. This should be done for free when the car is delivered or asap they are available after delivery. A luxury care like a BMW should have a more accurate mapping system. Also, locally the map wants us to travel on a road that has been closed to through traffic for at least 8 years to get to our home. We cannot rely on the navigation system at all.
Update from Feb 7, 2013: voice commands for bluetooth phone book and navagation system extremely poor. now have 20000K and no improvement in spite of hard drive being replaced.
