My car has a coolant leak coming from the plastic pipe underneath the manifold. The BMW dealership said this is a common issue with the bmw. You should definitely do a recall on this issue. It costs $1585 to fox a $30 defective part on these cars.

I was driving on the highway at around 65-70mph when all of a sudden my sunroof exploded into the vehicle all over me. I swerved as a result of the shock but thankfully was able to regain control of the vehicle before hitting anyone. I was thankfully in the vehicle alone and suffered cuts to my face and scalp. There was no evidence of any cracks on the sunroof and there was no foreign body impact noted. Glass flew into the vehicle as well as gouging the roof and and trunk of the vehicle with glass shards.

I have 2014 535D and the fill reservoir light came on after christmas. I dipped drive home. On thirsday January 3 it did it again. I had sent BMW an email that check engine light was on which has been happening since O bought the car. Intake manifold, nox, oxygen had all been replaced. Received the recall notice on Friday jam 4,2019. We already knew it had this recall issues well now I have to replace a $625 hose to diagnose the car issue that's been recalled. I believe the recall caused the issue but now I have to pay for part and labor before they can work on it and this part is several weeks wait. I believe the egr leak can melt the hose and leave stranded. Once the egr fails it's doing extensive damage very quickly and leaving even more repairs BMW is not covering. This issue has been worked on for months now and the fix doesn't last but couple months at best.

The driver's side door will not open with the door handle. The door lock was jammed into the locked position and would not unlock without actuating the electric door unlock system. The door could not be unlocked manually. This has happened several times intermittently. This was reported to the dealer and they informed me this instance has occurred several times to other BMW vehicles.

I hit a piece of truck tire debris on I-495N in marlboro MA at night and I was unable to stop and inspect for damage due to heavy traffic. All seemed ok. 15 minutes later in chelmsford MA, the car gave "drivetrain malfunction, reduced power, drive gently" message and continued to lose power and slow down. I pulled over safely to the breakdown lane and then the engine stopped and could not be restarted again. Tire debris from earlier ruptured part of the fuel system and caused the car to dump diesel fuel on the highway and the engine eventually stopped due to running out of fuel. Given that the car has all-wheel drive (AWD), a flatbed truck is required for towing. No other tow method is allowed. This requires being able to put the transmission in neutral (N) while the car is disabled and release the parking brake in order to move the vehicle. The parking brake (electric control) was able to be released but there is no easy way and no documentation readily available to override the electronic shift interlock for the transmission. The car is unable to be pushed, towed, or rolled without being able to get the car into neutral while the car is disabled. Placing the transmission into neutral normally requires starting the engine first which was not possible due to no fuel and there is no manual override or documented procedure available to override the interlock so that the car can be moved while disabled. The flatbed truck operator had to get creative and skid the car onto the flatbed in order to pick it up. The disturbing thing about this incident is that the electronic shift control for the transmission has no override for the interlock for moving the vehicle when disabled. Older cars had a mechanical link between the shift lever and transmission so a manual override was easy to do. New cars now have all electronic controls instead of a mechanical linkage.
