The contact owns a 2008 BMW 750I. The contact stated the driver side door inadvertently opened and would not close. The vehicle was towed to the tom williams dealer where it was diagnosed that the soft close automatic module was defective and need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired under the NHTSA campaign 17V328000 (latches/locks/linkages) due to the dealer not being clear what remedy needed to be performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and could not offer any clarity. The failure mileage was 120,000. Updated 10/24/17 updated 10/26/2017

The sensor mats in the car have failed at under65K. The models 2005-2007 had a recall on these mats but it doesn't pertain to the 2008 model in which I am experiencing the exact same problem. Additionally, under 65K miles I have had to replace both forward window motors and now the back right motor. The logic 7 sound amp also went bad in 2012.

-----original message----- to BMW N/a subject: Regarding comfort access sys recall fm[xxx] to: Customer service recall letter no. 12V-502:rollaway to whom it may concern: Approximately 4-5 months ago I began have small unusual electrical problems. Where the car would not start, I had to repeatedly depress the start button, to have the car start. Next the remote door soft touch refused to work continuously, but the key fob would operate the door. While we were away I thought since the car battery was the original (installed in 07), I considered that perhaps power may have been the culprit and had aaa replace the battery while away form home. Recently 02/11/12, I had to take my 750 to the dealer because I had to drive home manually holding my drivers door closed. The soft close door would not latch. The dealer said it was because of the "comfort access system", and the part had to be replaced at a cost of $1200. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

While driving with my wife, I received an on-board light and symbol indicator. Stating that the passenger side airbag and restraint system failure. This is the very same sensor the (OC3 pass side matt) that was recalled in 2006 and 2007 models that had the OC3 sensor.

Door mechanical/electrical problem - door will not lock/unlock. Dealer replaced lock mechanism under warranty. It happened again in June 2014, dealer fixed it for $1200. Starting August 2014 I have again this issue. Paying $1200 to fix a problem fixed 3 months earlier is not fair.

Own 2008 BMW 750 w/ soft close doors. Having the same issue as the 2005-2007 750S that have been recalled. At 35 mph, door flew open and I couldn't close. Sometimes it latches and sometimes it doesn't. cpo just expired 1 month ago. Dealer wants $ 1800 to fix. I know other owners w/ soft close doors - nothing but headaches. Considering the 2008 has the same doors as the 2007, I cannot imagine why the recall didn't extend to the 2008 also.
