The contact owns a 2008 BMW 750LI. The contact stated that upon refueling the vehicle, he smelled a strong gas odor. The contact recalled that the same issue had occurred with a BMW vehicle that he previously owned, so he drove the vehicle to his residence and restarted it. The contact exited the vehicle and as he was looking around, he noticed fuel leaking onto the rear driver-€™s side wheel and onto the floor. There were no warning lights illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that his vehicle was not included in a recall. The dealer advised the contact to take the vehicle in for diagnosis; however, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump was fractured and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 112,000.
