This car is leased.. I was never told that I was leasing a car that leaves the showroom in "As is" condition. This car has been taken to the service dept. The dealer refused to fix the problem. Good luck to anyone thinking of getting one of these to drive. Because the dash screen and navigation screens go totally dark during the day and can not be used safely.
They should pay you to drive a car like this. The service dept, looked at it and told me other cars are doing it, but that can't fix it...
I have been told that I have to continue to drive without the screens dimming to black during the day and they are sorry for the inconvenience. On that account I am sorry I have to report this problem publicly. . BMW has, by not fixing a warranty problem, asked me to report my problems to the public.
I am 3 months now into this serious problem.
This is unacceptable customer service for a brand new car and high end model. Who ever heard of this kind of refusal to a problem that is under warranty?
I would like to cancel my lease and get my money back. I did not lease a car "As is'..
If anyone knows how to get me out of this lease, I would like to know how. A purchased car would normally get refunded and returned under "Lemon law". I have called BMW USA and they don't want anything to do with my new car problems.
This car is not "the ultimate driving machine" - it is “the ultimate disappointmentâ€. What next? With all the other great cars I could have leased, I got this one. I am really sorry that I have leased this car.

I leased this car and right away I was aware that the Navigation screen was dimming almost to black during the day. It only works well when the driver window is opened.. but who likes opening their window when driving on a freeway. I was told by the Arrowhead dealership that they would contact me within the year for the fix, but they did not have one when I complained about it at the end of Dec. They took it back for a few days but couldn't fix it and would not replace it. I am really tired of not having a readable Nav screen and want to get another car. If I want to change channels on my radio I have to ask the computer in the car out loud to change the channels so at least I have that option with this car but reading anything on the screen is impossible...
It works at night.. Doesn't work during the day.
Update from Nov 12, 2020: /infotainment cluster / dash dims to unreadable during operation. Makes driving very distracting and user dangerous. This has been a problem since I drove it new off showroom floor. BMW is not interested in finding a fix and expect me to drive it for three years with the faulty infotainment and dimming dash/ screen making using the sound system impossible to use. I couldn’t tell u how many miles I have driven unless I stop the car wait for the screen to brighten. I have tried all year to get it fixed, and am told BMW doesn’t care to fix it and does not care if I ever lease or buy one of their cars in the future.
Update from Nov 18, 2020: The the dimming also causes the dash board and a/c controls to go black intermittently.. This is a very distracting and dangerous to use while driving the car. Be careful when getting involved with a new BMW because they are not concerned to fix this problem and warranty does not work for this kind of a problem

I have been to the BMW service department and talked to the general manager. All have indicated they don't know how to fix the problem.. They are unwilling to just replace the screens . I am told that the only way to see the screens when driving is to roll down the driver window and let light in.. Because they are blaming the light tint on the window which is effecting the screens ability to stay light during the day. Who ever heard of your dash board and nav screens getting dark during the day. When driving I now need to roll down the window, wait for the screen to lighten up and then look at the information for changing radio channels or reading the dash.. It's awful. I think its a driving safety hazard. When these screens are supposed to be convenient to use, they are hindering the normal use of this new car.
I really wanted to enjoy my " ultimate Driving Machine" but it is not a fun car to drive in this condition.
The dealer just says they are sorry for the inconvenience of it all. And, I will need to wait until who knows when. If anyone has suggestions on how to get the warranty work done on this car, please let me know, because the dealer isn't willing to do it. I have a lease is there anyway to get out of a lease on a car that doesn't perform it's normal driving functions? Anyone know the answer to that one?
