I bought it used. Drove it a few days with no problem then saw smoke, and antifreeze leaked out no warning. Got the hose fixed for 260. Ouch. Began to drive home from NJ to NY on I95 and, boom, overheating signal. Mind you on this model, you have to enter a special series of codes to see the tempt gauge on dash. Drive it slowly and stopping - this was humiliating on highway. Finally got home then took to my mechanic, and after several checks its the water pump. Online it says change the thermostat too, maybe later on. This issue with BMW has been a nightmare. If your fan is working even a little its most likely your water pump to the coolant system.
Update from Apr 3, 2022: The total cost not including time wasted going from mechanic with the right ODB diagnostic machine came out to nearly $500 for the water pump from Autozone and $250. Plus the wasted gas traveling from mechanics came out to about $1200 and the first mechanic with his crappy ODB wanted to change the radiator, and the second wanted to change the water pump and thermostat and finally last one from a BMW local repair shop concluded the problem...
I believe BMW should reimburse me for the emotional damaged suffered... just saying... The whole thing estimated at approximately $1200 dollars!!!
