Took it to third-party repair who told us it was high pressure pump and covered under some type of extended warranty given the prevalence of the problem with the BMW turbos. Dealer tried to tell us it was low pressure pump, and therefore not covered since we were > 50k miles. Charged us $900+ for repair. Engine failed again shortly after that "fix" and, OF COURSE, it turned out our other guy was right and the high pressure pump was bad. Very shady.
