The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The engine was not replaced; however, the battery was replaced. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V576000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 60,500.
