Seat folded down beyond what was normal and continued until it was tightly folded onto itself. This state prevented second row from allowing access to the 3rd row. At every stop the infotainment screen would display a audio and visual safety warning that the seat was not locked into position. At first the dealer stated that it needed a new seat frame because it was warped and was causing an issue with the seat proper operation. Later they state a new seat wiring harness. Then it was that the seat motor was bad, and a new one was ordered. The seat trim and seat back were not installed properly. Fast forward several months later and while trying to access 3rd row the second-row seat locked again. The emergency release strap did not work in both instances to release the seat. The 3rd row seat also stopped working and was not useable. It been at the dealer for about 2 months now and I have gotten different root cause issues.

The last conversation with service manager was that the harness had gotten pinched (did they install it correctly the first time they replaced the motor?) and a new one was ordered. They stated it was finally ready to pick it up and they said they tested it 10 times. We showed up and the 3rd row seat would not go down. Supposedly the head rest release cable or mechanism stopped working now. Fortunately, a loaner X7 was available and was provided however they tried getting us to turn it back in and just use it as is until parts come in again. The dealer is in the next town over and would take an hour round trip plus no guarantee it won't need additional multiple trips to get this original problem resolved.
