I was traveling on 6/12 at approximately 4:30 AM at around 65 MPH when I received a warning message something to the effect of -??emergency system malfunction - vehicle will now stop-??. I lost all throttle and the vehicle slowed to a stop. Due to the lack of other vehicles present at the time, I was able to get to the side of the road before the vehicle completely stopped. I restarted the vehicle and it seemed to operate normally, but I took the vehicle to the service center to diagnose the problem because it could have caused a serious accident in heavier traffic. When I checked the vehicle in, the service advisor stated that it seemed like a serious issue and they would want to get BMW involved directly, but when they had it -??ready-?? for me two days later, all they had done is attempt to pull trouble codes and couldn-??t tell me if it was safe to drive or not. They did provide me a loaner at the time and I have attempted to get the dealership to diagnose this issue, but to date they have not provided me with any information about it after having the vehicle for about one week. I contacted BMW North America Customer Relations and explained the problems with the dealership and asked about the mechanical failure and whether I should be concerned/take it to another dealership/etc. They stated that they don-??t get involved with the dealership service departments and were generally unhelpful. I stressed that this could be a serious safety issue, but I didn-??t get the sense they were interested in getting to the bottom of what happened and whether it was in fact a serious safety issue.
