Well, after replacing the shifting solenoid last year at a cost of $400, the transmission actually started slipping climbing hills on the way across I-80. It slipped 3 times shifting into overdrive on a 4 1/2 hour trip across PA.
It hasn't done it since, but this isn't one of those things that'll just go away.
We haven't yet had it fixed. It's supposed to take us to TN this fall, but unless we get the tranny rebuilt, I sincerely doubt we'll take it.

Ok, if you fix the short in the wire in the door it will help your car; the short makes the alternator, PCM and therefore, the transmission go bad.

Car was purchased on 12/19/08 @ approx. 3pm. At 8pm transmission began slipping causing vehicle to "jerk" upon acceleration. The torque converter clutch stuck on.

I own this 2000 Buick and I constantly have a problem with the transmission. Sometimes when I'm driving you here this winding noise and it up shifts hard. Never does it when I down shift. To fix the problem I turn the car off for a minute and turn it back on and Im good. Well at least for a little while. I usually have the problem 2-3 times a day if Im driving around that day. Really annoying any Ideas. I was told before I bought it that it had been in the transmission shop and they couldn't trouble shoot it......

The transmission and a special valve went bad and started slipping and slamming into gear with a winding sound at about 45-50 mph. and then it would slam into each gear from a dead start. All you had to do was shut off the car and restart it and it would stop. I read about a lot of people having this same problem. Also sometimes the car just takes off by itself. It starts idling high at a dead stop (like in a drive thru and then wants to take off. good thing I have my foot on the brake!

bought used 106,000 miles after 10,000 miles transmission started to get long shift codes then a grinding sound had aamco rebuild (for tranny work always go aamco) ended up that my 4th gear shaft had teeth stripped off apparently this is a common problem with this transmission they told me it has valving and hub problems they said that gm quality of parts have gone down hill and they are using poor quality steel etc.. (most likely made in mexico or china) this is not the buick quality i grew up with outsource work and buy cheaper parts but still same high price. They did this to olds now i feel buick is the next to go wish i was short so i could fit into a honda better, may cost a little more at least they make a quality product

MR. Transmission rebuilt this transmission but it was the most awful transmission work i have ever seen . They mechanics does not know what to look for . So simply they are not educated enough
If you want your vehicle done properly go to AAMCO or any other transmission shop or better yet Just buy a TOYOTA.

My trans was slipping just enough for me to notice with only 55K miles. I took it to the best trans place in town, who then battled with the GM extended warranty department for the appropriate repairs. The rep tried to get the shop to make minimal repairs as a band-aid. The shop I brought it to refused and really became my advocate. They got it replaced (and they also corrected some design flaws in the replacement). I now have 150K miles and never another issue.
