problem #2

Enclave Essence V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 7,000 miles

I took the vehicle in to a Buick dealer on JUNE 5 - it's been three weeks. They can't locate the parts necessary to repair the transmission. They just received permission from GM to get a new transmission to install in my vehicle. They have no idea where it will come from or when it will be in. I've filled a complaint with Buick customer service. They haven't helped at all. They called the dealer to find out when parts would be in. But it seems to me that they should be trying to locate the parts to repair or replace the transmission. I was told early on from the dealer that they call GM and they are the ones that locate the parts. Well, they are not doing a very good job.

I've bought two new Buicks in the last six years but I not sure if I would purchase another GM product after this. There is no excuse for not being able to locate parts or another new transmission. I bet they have plenty of them in Mexico where they are built. I bet that they have plenty of them at the factory where the Buick enclaves are made!

Enclave

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,101 miles

Drove to Arizona, problem began after arrival. Went to local GM dealer, they had the car for a total of 3 days on 2 separate occasions. Totally useless, could not duplicate problem that was there every time I drove the car. Drove the car home, over 13000 klms by this time. Went to local selling GM dealer. They diagnosed the problem with bulletin 18-na-091, updated tcm with the latest software and flushed and filled the transmission fluid. Told me to drive 400 to 500 klms and report results. As of this date the large shudders, jerks have softened but have not completely disappeared, will followup. Further the service adviser was untruthful when asked if transmission problems for Enclaves had been a problem in the past. My research indicates that it has been a problem in these vehicles for a number of years.

Update from Nov 3, 2019: Nov. 3 2019. returned to dealership on June 11, 2019 and reported that transmission still shuddered at 30-40 km. At that time they stated that there was a pressure problem and ordered anew 2A torque converter. After much followup and continuing problems, although less severe, the dealer keeps telling me the order is still on backorder. The vehicle now has over 22000 kms and I plan on going back to Az. in the new year. It was on the long journey {4400kms} that the original problem began.I intend to put more pressure on fixing this problem before departure.

Update from Dec 1, 2019: Finally on Nov.22/19 the torque converter was installed. The vehicle seems to run much better. Of course only time will tell.
