Encore AWD 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,700 miles

Several weekago, I felt the car missing while accelerating and thought it was something in the shifting process. On April 23 it was missing every minute or so. I parked the car and the book said to take it to a mechanic and don't drive it as it could cause more damage. My mechanic called and said it was the ignition coil that needed replaced and while there should replace the spark plugs. I okayed it. I saw the coil that was removed and the outside part that sticks up was melted and it actually damaged the spark plugs. He said I was running on 3 cylinders rather than 4. It isn't under warranty as far as I know. I need to check into the warranty. I didn't buy an extended warranty.
