The traction control light and check engine light comes on with reduced power message. It doesn't get enough power to the engine and takes awhile for the speed to go up.

This is the 3rd time my 2013 Buick Encore has done the same thing. Engine Power reduced, engine light comes on, car acts like it wants to shut-off but every time I get ready to take it to the dealer the engine light is off and the car runs fine. I should say that 2 times it happened it wasn't extremely cold--over freezing both times.

I will never buy a Buick again. I had a Buick LeSabre back in the seventies and it ran well over 150,000 miles with no major service required. I buy new a 2013 Buick Encore with around 70,000 miles I have to spend $1,100 for a repair that I believe should have been covered on the last recall. The recall had to do with low acceleration and the engine light shining. My wife drives this car maybe 15 miles a week and all of the sudden two days ago it did exactly the way the recall described. I bring it in to this place and they diagnosed it to where they're blaming me for lack of maintenance. We've always had it serviced over at the Lancaster Buick dealership and I feel really ripped off. I will never buy a Buick again and I encourage everyone to consider this message a warning that you too could be conned into paying excessively to maintain a simple vehicle.

DRIVING AND ABOUT TO ENTER THE HIGHWAY ON RAMP AND AS I TURN AND STEPPED ON THE GAS THE ENGINE CUT OUT AND MY VEHICLE STOPPED ON A DIME. LUCKILY THERE WAS NOBODY BEHIND ME ACCELERATING TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY.

I own the Encore and it has been a great car until now. I drive it to work (about 15 blocks) in a somewhat hilly area. Park in our flat parking lot, go out 4-5 hours later, start driving and have to stop (stoplight or stop sign) and have the car start idling rough, little acceleration, engine light flashing, traction control light on. No accident yet, dealer cleared the codes after keeping it for 3 days, and "switched the coil" and returned it to me. They told me that they could not replicate the problem so, they could not figure out what it was. I got the car back on a Monday. By Wednesday it was happening again. Same response from the dealer, we have someone drive it and it doesn't happen. We have put "quite a few miles on it" is what I hear from the dealer. -Not happy, car not fixed. Meanwhile, I own a 2013 Encore and am driving around in a 2002 Cadillac with over a 150K on it!

Update from Dec 16, 2014: My Encore is still not repaired. It is still having the same issues and the service manager at the dealer is not confident that it will be safe to drive any time soon. Multiple visits to the dealer, this time it's been 14 days since I have had my Encore in my possession.

have been looking for a replacement car for several months now. the BUick Enclave caught my eye, but $$ and piss poor gas mileage killed my interest noticed the ENCORE at a dealership and liked it because it reminded me of Enclave. test drove it on my standard course of Tower Rd. and Swifts Highway in Jefferson City, two of the known steepest hills in the immediate vacinity. if it passed both, felt that it could handle pulling me out of the valley where i lived. ENCORE did o.k. on Tower but DIED near the top of Swifts Highway, whereas the Ford Escape and Toyota Venza flew screaming up both. did not test the Encore any further i take it the ENCORE's 1.4 liter engine is the same size as my 1400-CC Mitsubishi/Dodge Colt of yesteryear, which could not keep up with my uncle's (gasoline) Rabbit in the hills of New York. So, based on my mitsubishi experience (2 cars, 5 years) and the Buick ENCORE test drive, i think that the 1.4 liter is probably a straight n' level city street engine and not a true highway engine, designed more for saving gas than for handling road conditions. inadequate power for the hills of central Missouri and i would not recommend it for driving in N.Y. or pA.

On 7/20/2018 I took my car into Ken Garff Buick in Riverdale as the car would not accelerate during a left hand turn or from a red light. They knew then that it needed a new Turbo, yet they did something as a bandaid I drove the car and it got worse. I take it into KEN GARFF where they finally admit that it needs a new upgraded turbo. However they can not get one for at least 10 days.
