: the contact stated while an 8 year old child, who weighed 55 pounds, sat in the front passenger seat, the airbag activation light flashed on and off. The dealership and manufacturer stated the passenger side airbag would activate at 90 pounds and the child should sit in the rear of the vehicle. Updated 02/27/07.

Wife needs to sit on a cushion with a cutout to ease pressure on her tailbone. She has a statement from the dr. To do this. With the cushion in place on the passengers seat, the airbag sensor in the seat will not detect her presence, and therefore the airbag is turned off. Without the cushion the airbag is turned on.

The consumers wife is too light to activate air bag on the front passenger side. The manufacturer said they couldn't do anything about it. The dealer did not know anything about how to bypass the switch. The consumer had no idea at the time he bought his vehicle that the airbag would not be activated for his wife.

The air bag sensor for the passenger side front is showing, air bag off. Passenger weighs 90 lbs, and the sensor still reads the same. This means that front passenger does not have an air bag. Manufacturer stated they will try to figure out what was going on. General Motors has agreed to repurchase the vehicle.
