My 2005 LaCrosse, when backing out of a parking place and turning the wheel, makes a loud sound like something needs grease in it. May go 2 weeks and not do it or may do it 3 times in 1 day like yesterday. Took it to Buick garage they couldn't find the problem. It wouldn't make noise when they tested it. Took it to other garages, they don't know either. Said maybe if they could hear it they could say what to fix.

I now have 46,000 miles on this car and still don't no what to fix. either it will finally leave me or kill me one. Sometimes when it makes this noise it sounds like I'd blown the horn and embarrassed the hell out of me. Yesterday, it could be felt in the steering wheel and felt like my tire scrubbed the pavement but when I take it to shop it won't do it. What the heck am I to do? My son is a mechanic, yesterday he drove this while I was with him and when backing out of places it did it 2 times, his bet is it will be a rack and pinion steering. Only does this when backing, never turning right or left or going down the highway. Can anyone help me? Thank you
