Buick has set the transmission shift points at 4,000 to 5,000 rpm and calls this situation "normal." The engine "red-line" is 5,500 rpm, so while the engine is turning such high rpm it is sucking down gas. The V6 engine has plenty of power and doesn't need these excessive rpm shift points. So far, Buick is unwilling to admit this is a problem and come out with new computer program that would fix the problem. The car would be perfect, if not for this problem and it makes the car very uncomfortable to drive because of the engine noise, and poor gas mileage as a result. I'm wondering how they got this car past the government's "Gas Guzzler" criteria. In reading this you now know of this situation with the Lacrosse, and Buick's indifference to pleasing customers who regret this purchase because of a correctable situation. Shame on you, Buick!

I love this car but it is annoying that this gear shifting problem is so pronounced that family and friends riding with me ask what it is that is causing that. Of course the next question is why hasn't Buick just created a new computer program to correct it. Just as important is the fact that my gas mileage is no where near what this model lists which I believe is a violation of government regulations. This car only has 26K miles on it and I'm not confident that this won't become a much larger and more expensive issue.
