Car would not start after motor was making noise and notice of fuel under car. Had car towed to mechanic. Mechanic could not start car to access what was wrong with it. Had to pay $444.71 to mechanic to install new starter in order to find out what was wrong with car. Mechanic found starter damaged and not engaging fly-wheel properly. Further testing found engine hydro locked due to faulty intake manifold gaskets allowing coolant into cylinders and hydro locking engine. Was advised by mechanic the car would need an engine even after intake repairs. The above damage resulted after the fuel pressure regulator was replaced and paid by me in 2004 before I received the GM recall 03054 in 2004. I was reimbursed by GM for my cost to replace the fuel pressure regulator.
With the new fuel pressure regulator replaced in 2004, the exact damages occurred after the 2004 recall was done. The engine was damaged and the cost to repair the intake manifold lines and the engine were too costly. I had to scrap the car. With a second fuel pressure regulator, would GM have repaired the intake manifold lines and engine? Would GM reimburse me for the $444.71 to replace the starter that was damaged by faulty intake manifold gaskets allowing coolant into cylinders and hydro locking engine resulting in damaging the starter? Had to replace the starter to the tune of $444.71 to fin d out what was wrong with the car. Should I contact GM?
