I purchased this car as a used vehicle that had one previous owner before myself. I have learned the dash board has rolled up in MANY of these cars. I am concerned mostly about the passenger side airbag. Buick automakers should have issued recalls on this years ago. I will write my letter to the safety administration tonight.

Bought car august 2009 with 132000 miles .Dash has gotten worse over time.Have
been told it would be 900 dollars to fix.I know it is a big problem because every time I
look a other buick lesabre , I look at the dash first.

For a luxury car, it looks like sh*t. The dash has shriveled up and drawn away from everything. All the problems on this car none of them have been recalled. how about using your bail money to take care of the people that want to support you. NEVER again.

As you know Buick will not admit this is a problem. If you go to a dealer they want to replace the dashboard at a cost of +/- $1000. So I came up with a simple fix. 1. Find a shop that replaces boat tops or car tops. 2. Have them glue and flatten the old dashboard and weight it down till it dries. 3. Trim any material that is sticking up. 4. You will probably have about a 3/4 inch opening to be be filled to level the surface. 5. Make a template about 2" wide in the shape of the windshield or the curvature of the dashboard. 6. Pick a vinyl material matching the color of the dashboard and cut it to the shape of the template. 7. Glue this material over the seam that is created when the dashboard was flattened.
This may not be a great way to explain this. If you have questions or need more information feel free to contact me by email at, james.johnson118@verizon.net

Noticed that the dash was pulling away (out and up) from the metal at the lower part of the windshield. At first, this was just a small part, but it could not be pushed back under again. Over the last month, it has pulled away more so that about a fifth of the dash is pulled away. There is a linear "hump" that can now be seen in front of the steering wheel. It is about 12 inches long and stands, at most, about 3/4 in. and runs parallel to the front of the dash but about five inches from the front of the dash. This is probably what is causing the dash to pull away. Maybe it is related to sun exposure/heat, I don't know. I am going to try to put something heavy on top of the hump -- doubt if it will help through. I do not even want to contemplate how much this would cost to replace.

I have a 2001 Buick LeSabre I bought new, the front dash is peeling up. I took it to the dealer who would charge me over a $1200 to repair. I then called Buick customer service who then spoke to the dealer. The dealer said he would reduce the price by 20%. I said thanks but no thanks. I am having the windshield removed for $100. I've got a 1/2" wide by 30" long by 1/16" thick metal strip, I will lay the metal strip on top of the front lifting edge of the dash and then screw the dash down after adding some glue to the underside of the dash. What I would like to know is if the material under the dash cover is plastic or metal and if there is a wiring harness pressed to the underside of the dash that I might hit with my 3/8" screws.

About 4/5 of the dash covering at the windshield edge has pulled away as much as an inch. This poor fit was likely done at assembly, but it was there when I purchased the car used with 59000 miles. Son purchased a 1992 Camry for $800 and still had PERFECT fit on ALL interior trim!! Wonder why Detroit is in trouble?

All of the dash indicators are dark. Lights, radio, etc. They can be seen in daylight, but I have to turn interior lights on at night in order to see all items. Carl Black Buick in Alpharetta, Ga advised me not to have repaired because it would be very expensive and might go out again. A great testimony from the dealer that I purchased the car from. I will buy a Toyota or Honda.

Dashboard lifting up at the bottom of front window. A car thats 5 years old should not have something wrong with it. I have seen cars 20 years old that had better dashboard than mine if it goes on the other side the air bag might go off. The extended warranty i got would not cover this. It makes me mad at buick for this. if i had it to do again i would buy a good ford and tell buick to drop dead.

Chapter 2
I have never seen a 2001 Buick LeSabre that hasn't had the front dashboard buckle up and separate from the plate thing it is suppose to fit up to. After a few more years, the shrinking will expose the glove compartment, and will make it hard to see over the buckle up portion blocking part of the front window. My air bags are started to get affected by this horrible design - it could be a fatal flaw. I can't believe that there hasn't been a recall. I have seen many of this same car and every one of them has this disaster. Does not matter if it is stored in a garage or not.
This is a very scary flaw. I have shopped at every single gm parts store and most every auto salvage yard. I have yet to find a replacement. GM parts store has 1 heads up dashboard left but that does no good for a non heads up display. It took me a long time to figure out what heads up display meant. The metal part of my glove box is now exposed. The dashboard is possessed by some evil spirit from Honey I shrunk the dashboard.
The saddest thing is that this is a hazard and someone will die or perhaps may have already from this piece of crap dashboard disaster. I know nothing to prevent it from happening. There is a dashboard cover that started out at $50.00 a couple of years ago but it now over $100.00. I don't see how that is going to keep the dashboard from exposing metal parts that anyone could get hurt. The glovebox becomes useless. How can G.M. ignore this problem? Well, they did and don't give a crap. I wish there were lawsuits filed on the 2001 Pucik Lesabre. I get so upset and it stresses me out.
