Mechanic reported GM 3.8L V6 engines from about 1997 thru 2005 have design flaw due to non-metallic component in engine lubrication system which deteriorates from engine operation heat after about 125,000 miles, causing inadequate lubrication to upper engine and ultimate engine failure, requiring total engine replacement.
