My rear doors will not open from the inside or the outside. My 4 door vehicle has been forced to be a 2 door coupe. I have 80,000 miles on the vehicle.

Reported this to dealer on 7/2/13 and was diagnosed as inside door lock assy at 58.97$, and 410$ plus tax to repair. Went home banged on in side of door and was able to open until this week when problem recurred and no amount of banging would open door. Went on google and noted this to be prevalent with many owners. This can be fatal in an accident where the passenger cannot exit the vehicle. Do we have to wait for a fatality before the GM acknowledges either a faulty design or faulty part, and repair without customer cost. Please advise.

Back door will not open inside or out side just stopped working !!!some one could get stuck in the back because door will not open safety issue !!!!!!!! I was told GM was told about this problem and had no recall because im not the only person this has happened too !!!! this is not fair its a safety issue that should of been fixed with a recall !!!!

I closed the rear driver's side door. I then locked the car. Later after unlocking the vehicle the door would not open; from the outside or inside. It appears to be locking and unlocking. After checking forums I see that there are many Buick Lucerne owners that have also experienced this issue. This is a major safety issue! I can't believe there isn't a recall on this car. I'm scared to put my children in the back seat by chance we are in a accident and they are injured.

The rear door locks on the 2006 Buick Lucerne have a fundamental design flaw. If the rear seat passenger pulls the door handle to open the door while the door is locked, and holds it in place when the power lock mechanism attempts to unlock the door, the mechanism binds internally making the door impossible to open. This has occurred 5 times on our Lucerne over the past 4 years. The only way to open the door is remove the inner door panel. Reach into the lock through the access holes and free up the mechanism. Until the door is repaired the backseat passenger sitting next to the frozen door cannot get out. I can't believe that the engineering team at GM has not discovered a fix for this condition. This is very disappointing and dangerous.

The right rear door is unable to be opened from either inside or outside. It remains that way since the dealer wants $320 to do the work. The left rear had the same problem but that was covered under warranty when the car was relatively new. This is a safety concern. Obviously there are a lot of people with the same problem. Why is this not covered by a recall? my wife's cousin had a Lucerne with the same issues. She got rid of hers. As soon as we can afford another car we will be doing the same thing. And I guarantee it won't be a GM!!!!

I have experienced an issue that seems to be of concern ( reviewed complaints filed for the same issue) for safety. My passenger side back door failed to unlock both from the inside and outside. If I were in an accident and had passengers in the back seat, this could be life threatening. I cannot image that there has not been a recall for such a serious issue. After talking to GM, they will not take any action until notified by NHTSA-odl. What does it take for this issue to be addressed?

The rear passenger and/or driver side door(s) will not open from the inside or the outside. It is as though the locking mechanisms are not engaging either door.

2006 Buick Lucerne with a list of concerns /problems* on the day of purchase the consumer's noticed wind noise from both front doors and scratches on the windshield. The dealer attempted to buff out the scratches but was unsuccessful. GM approved a windshield replacement. While driving the automatic driver's seat started moving up on it's own. The seat would not stop until it was as far forward as it could go. The cd player/radio refused to eject a cd, but after two days it finally released. The radio was also not working during this time. The consumer made a service appointment. Trunk deck exploded. When the trunk release button was pushed there was a loud noise and the trunk flew open. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The doors were readjusted to stop the wind noise. The technician indicated he couldn't find anything wrong with the seat. They also couldn't find anything wrong with the cd/radio. When the technician pressed the trunk release button on the key fob, the trunk deck exploded. The vehicle was left at the dealer to be serviced. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the trunk problem.
