Ever year or two, the brakes go bad. Going down hill when braking, the steering wheel and the brake pedal will shake violently. You have to let off and reapply. Emergency stopping isn't going to happen. Discovered through trial and error that the rotors were rusting due to low mileage and usage. Seems that I must replace the rotors every one or two years regardless of mileage. Sometimes, every year. I do not have this problem with any other car that I have owned. All four wheels go for $800. Front only for $400. And a big surprise when I found out that there were little bitty drum brake pads on the rear for the emergency and parking brake. Go figure.

I took me a while to realize that the rotors just had to be replaced, and that trying to break them back in was not going to happen. It is now in the budget. At 46,000 miles and 10 years, I will need to buy a lot of rotors, but it is a great car and I will keep until the cows come home.
