I have filed a prior claim with you on the ignition control module failure. Dealer replaced the entire module - GM subsequently issued recall for Buick, altho they are claiming the failure has to do with a slot/hole in a key. I had only the key and the lock fob on the key - I did not have lots of keys and other accessories linked to my key, nor did I hit a pothole or anything jarring. The car just died, no brakes, steering, unable to restart the car and I had to have it towed. I was fortunate that it was at a low speed and not 65 mph on a highway. This repair cost me $939 dollars. And I am not sure that the replacement part isn't a defective duplicate, an inventory shelf item that has the same defect as the part replaced. If GM is claiming it's only a key issue, then the drivers of these larger vehicles are all at risk, as well as other vehicles that might be involved in an accident with a car unable to be controlled. Please don't let them get away with sweeping this issue under the rug. I don't want to be injured or cause a death because GM doesn't want to spend the money to replace defective modules. Letter from senator nelson on behalf of constituent re 2006 Buick Lucerne ignition switch. The consumer stated while driving down the highway, he hit a large pothole and the vehicle shut off. When he attempted to apply the accelerator, nothing happened. He decided to pull over, and at that point, he realized he had no power steering, then he realized he had no brakes to stop the vehicle. He finally stopped the vehicle and was able to re-start it, with no problem. When the consumer called the dealer, he was informed, his vehicle identification number was not included in the ignition recall.

Car died while driving it. Lost power steering and brakes. Had car towed to dealer. It was diagnosed as having a faulty ignition module. I was lucky I was not on a highway at high speed. Given the company recalls on ignition parts on other name plates, it is likely that the Buick's are also seeing ignition problems and failures but GM has not issued a recall for this car platform. 2006 Lucerne suddenly left city roadway for no apparent reason. Lucerne collided with two telephone poles positioned next to each other. Delta V of collision between 22 and 25 mph. Pole to driver side frame impact with driver side front wheel pushed into driver floor board so floor pushed against brake pedal post collision. No airbag deployed. Pdof was near straight ahead or 12 O'clock. Driver belt spooled out allowing driver's head to significantly deform the upper steering wheel rim. Driver belt cut a notch in the B-pillar trim exiting the D-ring hole. GM looked at this car in litigation and agreed that the driver was belted. Driver suffered jaw fractures, rib fractures and lung injury. Driver died of collision related injuries 6 months post collision. General Motors may dispute whether the death was related to the airbag non-deployment, but it can not dispute the relationship of the jaw and rib fractures to the non-deployment. Download of SDM showed no "events recovered". that appears to be consistent with the 2006 cobalt ignition recall issue. The key in the ignition after the accident has a string of keys and other items hanging down several inches from the key in the ignition, also seemingly consistent with the 2006 cobalt ignition recall issue. Driver would have been protected from serious injury be a timely airbag deployment in this collision according to biomechanics retained by the driver's family in litigation against General Motors. This complainant suspects that the ignition switch in the 2006 is similar to the 2006 cobalt ignition switch, but does not have definitive confirmation of that. Complainant can send photographs of the damage to the Lucerne and the Lucerne Bosch cdr crash data retrieval report by email or other means at your request.

Had just got home and noticed that the rear passenger door was not all the way shut. So I shut it and then locked it. Went out the next day and same door won't open even though the visible lock is up in the unlock position.

The rear passenger doors of the car do not open. The automatic door locks have failed to work. The mechanism design has failed because the manual door lock releases do not work. It is impossible to exit (or enter) the car from the backseat. The rear doors on both sides of the car do not open. There has been no accident and there has never been any prior damage. Since more than two people often ride in this vehicle, this is an extreme safety hazard because it is impossible to access the back seat of the car (especially in an emergency) unless reaching over the front seat from inside the car.

The back doors on my Buick Lucerne 2006 have not unlocked for over a month. Strangely, one day I leaned on one door from the inside and it unlocked for a few hours and then relocked. I see many other complaints for the same issue online. The dealers were not helpful or sympathetic and charged me one hundred dollars to diagnose this in five minutes, with a two grand estimate. It is unsafe for back seaters who cannot get in or out safely. This should be on a recall from GM right away.

This electrical problem began about the first of the year when the electric door locks started to cycle while driving. It has since migrated to turning off the cruise control and causing the headlights to flash off and on. The remote start will start the car but will shut down the motor after a few seconds. These problems continue during every operation. I have been informed by the dealer that it is a P140 code and will take about 3 to 4 hours to diagnose where the problem at $80 per hr. Plus repair.

Since about 60,000 miles, the car it stalls out. It can stall going 70 mph down the interstate, stall at stop signs, stall pulling out of an intersection. Last occurrence I was trying to cross a major highway when it stalled. I coasted across the highway and it restarted right away. If a car had been coming from either direction, we would have been hit. I have had 4 sensors replaced and nothing seems to fix this problem.

The contact owns a 2006 Buick Lucerne. While the vehicle was parked in the contacts driveway, it caught fire. The vehicle was destroyed. When the fire department arrived, they filed an incident report, which concluded that the battery had caused the fire to occur. He determined that a gold post had placed a hole in the battery, that should have had a cap on it. The dealer was notified and a report was filed. The current and failure mileage was 74,000. Updated 3/11/11 the consumer stated the gold post created a hole in the underside of the hood. The fireman indicated a cap should have been on the gold post. Updated 04/27/11

2006 Buick Lucerne, traveling 70 mph on the freeway, engine stops, dash gives reduced engine power check throttle and then gives a check traction control warnings, no power steering or brakes. Engine will not restart until battery has been disconnected to reset system, problem appears to be caused by a grounding problem or high resistance connection some where. No error codes stored. Car has done this so many times I do not feel safe driving it.

On 4 separate occasions my '06 Buick Lucerne (3.8 L)went into uncontrolable excelleration. On long road trips, with the cruise control engaged and doing approximately 70 mph, when I excelleratedhard, instead of returning to the cruise speed it seemed to lock into a passing gear. Braking didn't stop it, putting it into did not slow the engine revs., however turning off the key and restarting after coasting a little while worked once or twice to stop the revs.. the other times I hit the brakes really hard and it disengaged the cruise and excelleration problem. Fortunately there was no accident or damage, since I had room on the highway to do this. The Buick dealer where I bought the car said they never heard of this before and could not duplicate when they tried. There was approximately 60,000 miles on the car when the last incident ocurred. Ps turning off the cruise switch didn't help either.
