About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
Both right and left headlights, both hi-beams and low beams will not illuminate. All other exterior lights work. Ac delco 22860591 body control module has been replaced and programed. All fuses and relays have been checked. Headlight switch # 15926061 (without fog and trunk release) replaced. Head lambs still do not work. Without headlights this car is unsafe to drive.

The passenger side head lights failed and the problem was not the bulbs. The primary connector for both the high beam, low beam, and turn signal lights proved to be defective with a burn mark on the terminal that supports the above lights. I was advised by the Buick dealer that there is a kit to replace this connector because it is a known problem. This is a safety issue because this connector can fail at any time and it is impossible for a non-mechanic to repair this connector in the field because access to the connector involves a partial dismantling of the bumper shield and special tools. The fact that there is a kit to replace this connector suggests it is a design defect in either the wiring or the connector and that it should be considered a recall item because of the potential danger of sudden loss of headlights. My lights went out at night while driving in mountain terrain. I have gone on the internet and this apparently is a problem that has been experienced by a number of Buick Lucerne owners. This is an engineering mistake and GM should be forced to recall these cars and repair this design defect.

Left home in the evening and turned headlights on. Noted the highbeams were on and tried to change to lowbeams, but headlights remained on highbeams.
