Lucerne

The contact owns a 2010 Buick Lucerne. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode and the engine shut off inadvertently. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle restarted independently after 10-15 minutes. The messages "Reduced Engine Power", "Starting Disabled", "Service Throttle", "Service Stabili-trak Soon" were displayed, and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving; however, the vehicle failed to exceed 20-30 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on two occasions, and the dealer retrieved diagnostic test codes: P2138 and P2122. The dealer replaced the throttle body and the accelerator pedal; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the failure mainly recurred while making left turns. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could only assist after the vehicle had been taken to the dealer. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the failure had to happen while driving in the presence of a mechanic, then the vehicle could be diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 61,798.

Had car towed to dealership on 12/17/14. Car not starting and stalling. Had battery replaced and next day car would not start again. Stalled and making noise under hood and in rear by battery. Took back to dealership and they stated could not replicate problem therefore no solution to be found. Told car was ready after waiting approx. 4 hrs. For them to try and replicate car shutting down. It just kept turning over. Car once again shut off and would not start. Left car and they told me fuel pump module was melted and needed replacement. Also rear fuse block was melted and terminals in fuse block connectors overheated/spread apart. Replaced fuel pump module and rear fuse block and repaired wiring in fuse block connector. This is a rather serious problem on a 2010 with approx. 47,800 miles. Very dangerous for it could have caused a crash or fire in the car.

Engine mount had to be replaced twice since I have owned this vehicle, the first is listed above, the second time is Sept, 24, 2012 and the mileage on the vehicle is 31,000. This is unusual and make me wonder if the part is deflective. A vehicle less than three year old has two engine mounts replace. This to me is a safety issue, what if more than one breaks or all of the engine mounts break then the engine will fall out of the vehicle which is unsafe. Please investigate to see that this is not a common issue with the 2010 Buick Lucerne.
