I recently was driving my vehicle when I realized the speedometer was incorrectly working. For a few days it was acting up then stopped working all together. Then a week or so later the gas gauge reads empty when I had just filled it. I am very concerned with these matters for I use this vehicle to Transport 3 very small children and both issues are very unsafe. I read now that there are several other complaints with these matters along with several other issues with the same make of vehicle. I would think that GM would offer a recall on these issues because they are both very expensive to have fixed. When I priced the speedometer cluster my mechanic wanted over $500 to fix and I currently can not afford these costs due to being out of work on medical leave.

The speedometer began sticking at night. We kept driving the car using the RPM gauge to try to judge speed. The speedometer would work sporadically. It now doesn't work. It show 100 mph when you may be going 20 or it shows 20 mph when you are going 60. Last night we were showing 45 miles an hour parked in the driveway. This is definitely not a safe way to drive a car. I know that GM has had problems with this and has recalled some trailblazers and Tahoe, but so far they have not done anything to help the Rainier owners. This is a costly repair and it is caused by a new design GM tried.

Speedometer failure. Prior to becoming pinned at 120 plus mph, worked intermittently. Ticking noise upon stopping. Mechanic stated he was aware that this is a common problem with GM vehicles and thought it was a recall. Defective part is speedometer "cluster" made by speedo. This is unsafe on the road as I am unable to determine the speed at which I am traveling.

2005 Buick Rainier with 63,000 miles. The speedometer will register 120 when going 60 and 60 when completely stopped. GM refuses to see this as a safety issue and replace it free of charge when other GM vehicles with the same problem are covered up to 70,000 miles.

Speedometer started sticking, and eventually stopped working completely. I am having a hard time, but from what I can tell so far it is expensive to fix or even find a used one. What an aggravating thing to go wrong on a newer vehicle that clearly has to be at the fault of manufacturer.
