Regal E-Assist 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 53,000 miles

I had this whining noise like it was a generator and also the car would hesitate sometimes in auto start mode.

I could not isolate where the noise was coming from, so i asked the dealer to look at it. They said it was the AC compressor and the Idler assembly. The total cost of the repair would be $2K Parts were $950 and the rest labor.

I was able to find the parts needed for $450 (GM PARTS) and did the work myself. I'm posting this so that if someone else has the same issue they will be able to save them selves the diagnostic fee. I did a good amount of searching online and found nothing about this issue at all.
