We have 3 cars, all with the backup camera/display technology. The Regal's technology is so bad it is unusable in the situation where it is needed the most. When backing out of a dark garage into the light, the camera/display combination takes 20-30 seconds to adjust to the change in light. During that time the view is so washed out you can't see anything! You may hear audible alerts related to that rear sensing tech, but it does no good because you can't see anything in the display.
The Buick sales person recommended we back into the garage so we don't need to use the backup tech when leaving. Really? This just tells me this is a known problem on these Buicks and there is no solution from GM.
This is the first GM vehicle I had purchased in 20+ years, now I remember why. They ALWAYS screw up something that they don't consider to be a major issue, yet all other car manufacturers seem to not have the problem. This is just sloppy/poor engineering.
If GM wants to see how to do backup camera/display technology properly, look at the Ford Escape or the Infiniti's G37x, our other 2 vehicles.

Yesterday, September 5, at approx 5 pm I stopped at the market for a few items. When I returned to my vehicle I put the car in reverse and when I proceeded forward there was a blanks screen, the cell phone didn’t connect as usual, no connecting tone, was not able to use my blue tooth to call On Star to have them do diagnosis. Only the radio was playing but the display was blank.
I stopped a few feet away, shut off the car and sat a few minutes, then proceeded the start the car again. Waited and still no display, no phone, nothing was working! If the display or the phone would have worked, I could have called On Star which would have been good then I could have let you know the error code!!!!!!! This is the second time this has happened. It was a few months ago. I thought maybe I hit one of the controls on the steering wheel while driving, returned home and never thought about it again until yesterday.
I Googled the problem and it appears there is a problem out there, exactly like mine with other vehicles; there was a reference PI1126F., maybe helpful!,,,,,,please advise as I am calling the dealership on Friday to make an appt for service. I have On Star because I travel alone and like the convenience of speaking to a live person at On Star. (I pay for the service and expect it to work when I need it!!!)
