As with older vehicles there are the chances that switches and sensors will give out. With my Riviera the hood light socket does not get any power so that means no light. But the trunk socket is just the opposite by it being on the whole time and I even drained down a battery by putting in a bulb. The fix for this is pretty much as easy as using a flashlight or a head mounted light like I do. Again, some things on an older vehicle have to be forgiven.
