This was the last straw. I had replaced the heater core about 1 1/2 years previous after it exploded that cost about $600. Now it was broken again and spurting coolant. The intake manifold was leaking oil as well. I had asked a mechanic to examine for leaks a few times and was told he couldn't find any. A good indication of the failure of the cooling system is the that the car will heat up (it doesn't have to be more than half on the gauge) and then suddenly cool off eg the engine went from the half way point on the gauge to a quarter very quickly. Its very expensive to fix. I paid $2500 for the car, I got it with 120000 miles. The repair bill was $1500 + the car lasted to 160000. Pity, it was a fun car to drive.
