I bought a Cadillac CT6 Platinum and have major paint issues. The color is granite gray and less than 3 years after owning the vehicle, the paint began fading on the hood, roof and trunk. I have taken it to multiple car detailers thinking it was fading due to sun damage, although it is not in the sun other than when I drive it. They have all told me it is paint failure and not caused by sun damage. When I take it into Cadillac, they brush it off as sun damage or blame it on the after market clear coat I purchased through Cadillac when I purchased the vehicle.
I called Dupont (they did the clear coat) and they looked at it and told me it is under the clear coat and is paint failure. I learned that GM has a paint failure lawsuit against it for this year vehicle for their trucks but unfortunately my vehicle is not listed as one of the vehicles covered under the lawsuit. It is embarrassing to drive a $90,000+ vehicle that looks like a junker due to the faded paint. It has significantly decreased my trade-in value. I love my car, but am debating getting rid of it or biting the bullet and having it painted. I would like to see if anyone else has had this issue and if they were able to get Cadillac to fix the problem.
