I purchased this 2006 Cadillac DTS in Dec of 2014 with 115000 miles. After having the car for 5 weeks, I had to have the bottom cover reattached under the engine. While it was being repaired, oil was present all over the bottom of the engine cover. I was told by a certified GM mechanic that it is the gasket of the oil pan causing the leak. He said that the gasket has been a problem for many years. Expensive to fix as it is a 14 hour labor job. Now I find out it has been a problems for years and GM continued using the same gasket even after it was a known to fail.
Is there any help out there?

Oil leak started shortly after I purchased car used in 2008. It wasn't much of a problem and the quotes I was receiving for the repair were between $2000 -$4000 which was way too much for me. Now the leak leaves large stains where ever I park. Not only that but there's a constant burnt oil smell inside the car. It's a major problem that at too many owners complain about. How can oil leaking on the engine not be a safety concern? Another added problem is that three of the cars power window regulators have broken and I barely use the windows as I am a huge fan of air conditioning. They need to step up or be investigated on this problem. Looking for a class action lawsuit to join or starting one myself.
