The contact owns a 1995 Cadillac Deville. While driving approximately 55 mph, a large amound of smoke appeared from the front driver side. The contact pulled the vehicle over, opened the hood, and noticed flames. The contact extinguished the fire and the vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was diagnosed that there was a fuel rail leakage. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 04V110000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.

While driving up an incline on hot day with ac on I got message no charge, and "engine hot shutdown soon", & ac compressor off! (a no brainer with belt shredded!!) as well as steering going numb. When I looked under the hood the serpentine belt had slipped off the pulleys & shredded. Upon closer inspection it was determined that the power steering pump "adapter" has a leak that drips oil directly onto the belt & pulleys which are smooth with nothing to stop belt from sliding off should a leak occurs. I have been unable to find "power steering pump adapter" in salvage yard & its out of production at GM & not in stock at my local dealer.
