THIS CAR WAS 7985 AND A 50TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION. THIS DAM THING NEVER STARTED RIGHT WOULD JUST CRANKCRANKCRANK, BACKFIRE, START LOW, THEN IDLE ROUGH UNTIL IT WARMED UP. THEN ONE WEEK IT HAD BEEN RUNNING LIKE SH*T SO I PULLED IT OUT OF THE GARAGE AND OPENED THE HOOD [that is what probably saved my house and life]. THE CAR WAS REALLY IDLING ROUGHLY AND THEN IT BACKFIRED REALLY HARD [the car lurched in park] THEN IT STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY BACK AND FORTH THEN BOOM NUCLEAR SIZE EXPLOSION AND FIRE BALL AS HIGH AS THE HOUSE! WE HAD JUST GOTTEN A NEW BATTERY NEW WIPERS CHANGED AND 20 GALLONS OF PREMIUM GAS AND THE OIL CHANGED JUST THE DAY BEFORE!!!!!!! THE FIREFIGHTERS PUT IT OUT AND TOWED HER AWAY! THE F* THAT SOLD ME THIS DISAPPEARED OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH AND WE COULD NOT CONTACT HIM AT ALL. MY PARENTS MADE ME BUY A CRAPPY TOYOTA AND IT HAS LESS THAN 1/2 THE POWER OF THAT V-8 ENGINE! DO NOT E V E R BUY FROM A PRIVATE SELLER!!!!!!

This appears to be a very common occurrence with the north-star engine, the dealer's estimate for repair was about $5k. But there may be a glimmer of light for some owners whose last 8 digits of their Vin#'s are within the following sequence XU791675 -XU802142. Call Cadillac @ 18004588006 and ask about campaign # 99086 for further guidance, I hope that it will help you! As for me, unfortunately for whatever reason my Vin# is not covered leaving me in a bad place!
