The contact indicated that the driver owned a 2000 Cadillac Deville. The driver was involved in a fatal crash. The vehicle was difficult to stop and the brakes failed on several occasions. The vehicle would also jerk violently while traveling at any speed. The contact stated that the driver had the vehicle routinely repaired by an authorized dealer. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle jerked violently and the driver lost control. The brakes failed to stop the vehicle upon applying the brake pedal. The driver crashed the vehicle into a tree. The vehicle was destroyed. The contact sustained major head and bodily injuries that required medical attention. The driver succumbed to the injuries several days later. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.
