Went to get in my car to go home from work and the key would not go in the ignition no matter how many times I tried. Had to call AAA and wait for them to come out. The driver knew just what to do. He took a paper clip and inserted it into the lock until something clicked and then the key went right in. What happens is the tumbler keeps dropping. So now we have to carry a little tool to stick into the ignition lock when this happens in order for the key to go in. We called Cadillac and they told us to take it to our dealer and have them diagnose it. This cost us $108.00. They said it is a faulty ignition cylinder lock and it is not covered by warranty. We did not have it fixed at that time. We called Cadillac back and told them that we think this is a design flaw and it is very dangerous especially if you are out some where alone and you don't know how to fix it. They researched it for a few days and called us and told us it is not a design flaw and not covered under warranty and that we would be responsible for having it fixed to the tune of $350.00. How can we fight this. Shouldn't a Cadillac have a better ignition cylinder lock. What other avenues do we have in order to get Cadillac to be responsible for this? Please help us.
